The Vermont Business Teachers' Association (VBTA) has a long history, beginning as early as 1932. Its major role is setting standards for business educators, providing courses for professional development, and offering teachers an open door to exchange viewpoints, teaching methods, and camaraderie. It takes great pride in the use of technology to keep Vermont business teachers up to date and in contact with each other. VBTA spans the ice age of crank telephones and carriage-return typewriters to the electronic age of wireless laptops, digital imaging, and telecommunications. Throughout most of its life, VBTA has been an active affiliate with the Vermont Education Association. It changed allegiance in the late 1970's and became a working partner with the Vermont Vocational Association because of common interests. However, since VVA's demise in 2001, it rejoined an old friend the Vermont Education Association. VBTA's strength comes from devoted membership. Therefore, as in its past, its future knows no bounds. Herbert E. Wheeler, Past President
